No vehicle access at Fraser Highway and 138 Street in Surrey until Sept. 30

Drivers in the Whalley area of Surrey who use 138 Street to get on or off Fraser Highway must use a different route until September 30, 2026.

The Surrey Langley SkyTrain traffic update posted June 30, 2026, says column construction for the elevated guideway requires a temporary traffic pattern change. The weekly advisory published August 28 confirms the access change remains in effect 24/7 through September 30.

With Fraser Highway itself still fully closed between 140 Street and 96 Avenue until Sept. 7, the 138 Street access change quietly removes one of the last local ways to slip on and off the highway at the Whalley end. Treat Whalley Boulevard and 140 Street as the standing route for the rest of September rather than a one-week detour.

What drivers should do

No vehicle access: There is no vehicle access to or from 138 Street and Fraser Highway during this period.

What cyclists and pedestrians should do

Both sides of Fraser Highway: Cyclist and pedestrian access on both sides of Fraser Highway is available.

North side stoppages: Intermittent pathway stoppages of up to 15 minutes may occur on the north side of Fraser Highway near 138 Street when equipment is in operation.
