Burrard Station elevator closes for replacement

Burrard Station's elevator is now closed for replacement, and TransLink says riders who need step-free access should plan a detour before heading downtown. The closure began on **July 21, 2026** and is expected to last until **spring 2027**. TransLink says customers should allow about **20 minutes** of extra travel time when using the accessible detour. ## What riders should do TransLink lists two main accessible options while the Burrard Station elevator is out. Riders can travel along Dunsmuir Street to Granville Station's accessible entrance, which is just southeast of Granville Street. TransLink also says customers can use the **#5 Downtown/Robson** bus between Burrard Station and Stadium-Chinatown Station. If you are meeting someone downtown, build the detour into the arrival time. The closure affects elevator access between street level and SkyTrain at Burrard Station, not the whole station. ## More station work is coming TransLink says the Burrard closure is part of the Expo Line elevator replacement program. The agency says the program is upgrading **21 original elevators** across **15 stations**, with **nine** new Expo Line elevators already in service. Royal Oak Station is next on the posted list. TransLink says elevator replacement work there starts on **July 28**, with the closure expected to last less than four months. Customers who need elevator access at Royal Oak should plan for the **#148 Edmonds Station/Royal Oak Station** bus detour and about **30 minutes** of extra travel time.
