Patterson Station's elevator closes Nov. 3, 2026, until spring 2027.

TransLink is replacing the nearly 40-year-old elevator at Patterson SkyTrain Station in Burnaby, so riders who need step-free access will have to use another route, such as the BC Parkway east to the accessible entrance at Metrotown Station.

TransLink says the replacement will be 20 per cent larger, with more room for mobility devices, strollers and bikes, and should break down less often, including in hot weather. Details are in TransLink's October 20, 2026 media release.

Step-free ways around it

TransLink lists these options while the Patterson elevator is closed:

  • Walk or roll: go east along the BC Parkway to the accessible entrance at Metrotown Station.
  • From Patterson Station by bus: go east along the BC Parkway to Central Boulevard and Willingdon Avenue, then take the #19, #31, #49, #116 or #130 to Metrotown Station.
  • On Kingsway: take the #19 bus to the Metrotown Station bus loop.
  • #129 riders: transfer to the Millennium Line at Gilmore Station.
