Chapman Avenue just east of North Road at Gilroy Crescent in Coquitlam is back under active construction for Metro Vancouver’s Stoney Creek Sewer Upgrade. Work resumed September 14, 2026, and is expected to run for about six weeks.
The City of Coquitlam road-work CivicAlert (posted September 15, 2026) confirms single-lane alternating traffic and local-access limits while crews work on this section.
What road users should know
Where: Intersection of Chapman Avenue and Gilroy Crescent, just east of North Road. The official location map shows the approximate work area on Chapman Avenue east of North Road.
When: Construction resumed September 14, 2026, and continues for approximately six weeks. After Chapman Avenue work finishes, crews move south on Gilroy Crescent for the next phase.
Traffic: Single-lane alternating traffic is in place 24/7 along the work area. There is no access to Chapman Avenue from Gilroy Crescent. Gilroy Crescent is limited to local traffic only.
What to do: Plan an alternate route or allow extra time. Drive with caution, watch for crews and equipment, and follow construction signs and traffic control personnel.

Who is affected
Anyone using Chapman Avenue east of North Road, or trying to reach Chapman from Gilroy Crescent, needs to expect delays and follow signed local-access rules through late October 2026 (approximate six-week window from September 14).
This is a new dated Coquitlam utility bulletin. It is separate from the overnight Johnson Street and David Avenue paving window (September 16–19) and from other Metro Vancouver water-main work elsewhere in the city.
