New Highway 17 off-ramp from stal̕əw̓asəm Bridge opens Sept. 15

The new Highway 17 off-ramp from the southbound stal̕əw̓asəm (Riverview) Bridge opens at 6 a.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2026. Southbound bridge drivers get a direct connection to Highway 17 westbound.

The Pattullo Bridge Replacement project notification posted September 8, 2026, also opens the new Highway 17 westbound exit lane to Tannery Road at the same time. Drivers heading to Tannery Road will pick up that exit lane about 500 metres before the current Tannery Road exit.

What road users should know

Off-ramp: Southbound on the stal̕əw̓asəm Bridge, use the new ramp for Highway 17 westbound starting 6 a.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

Tannery Road: New westbound exit lane opens the same morning, about 500 metres in advance of the current Tannery Road exit.

Signs: All traffic pattern changes will be well signed. Follow traffic control where posted.

Active travel: Multi-use pathway construction in Surrey continues. Check the project active transportation page for pedestrian and cyclist access.

Live conditions: Check DriveBC before you travel.

Who is affected

Anyone southbound on the stal̕əw̓asəm (Riverview) Bridge who needs Highway 17 westbound, and anyone on Highway 17 westbound who exits at Tannery Road, should expect the new geometry from Tuesday morning.

This is separate from the Front Street Truck Route closure in New Westminster and from Surrey Langley SkyTrain daytime access changes on Fraser Highway.
