Road users on Dewdney Trunk Road between Lougheed Highway and Mariner Way should expect temporary street closures as Metro Vancouver carries out road paving work.
The City of Coquitlam notice says paving is part of the Metro Vancouver Dewdney Trunk Road Water Main Construction project. Work begins the week of August 31 and is expected to last approximately one week, weather dependent.
Which streets are closing
Three streets at Dewdney Trunk Road are closing temporarily, one at a time:
- Sharpe Street at Dewdney Trunk Road: 2–3 days; vehicle detour via Chilko Drive; pedestrian detour along Lougheed Highway
- Norman Avenue at Dewdney Trunk Road: 2–3 days; vehicle detour along Ranch Park Way
- Ranch Park Way at Dewdney Trunk Road: 2–3 days; vehicle and pedestrian detour along Norman Avenue and the lane
Each closure is expected to last 2–3 days before crews move to the next location.
Separate from the Locarno–Cawthra work
This paving stretch is separate from the still-active Metro Vancouver water-main work on Dewdney Trunk Road between Locarno Drive and Cawthra Court, which brings single-lane alternating traffic to a different section of Dewdney Trunk Road for approximately eight weeks.
