Drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians who use Cedar Drive in Coquitlam must use a long-term detour via Victoria Drive until Fall 2027.
The City of Coquitlam Cedar Drive Upgrade Project page confirms Cedar Drive between 4150 Cedar Drive and Gilleys Trail is fully closed starting May 11, 2026. The closure runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until Fall 2027.
This is a multi-year full closure for sedimentation ponds and road/utility rebuilds on the Cedar Drive Upgrade / Partington Creek corridor. Plan Victoria Drive as the standing bypass until Fall 2027, not a short weekend detour.
What road users should do
Eastbound on Cedar Drive: Detour via Victoria Drive.
Westbound on Cedar Drive: Detour via Gilleys Trail and Victoria Drive.
All road users: Follow No Thru Traffic signs and traffic control in the area. The detour applies to drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians.
Property access: Access to properties on Cedar Drive is maintained during the closure.
Deboville Slough Trail: The parking lot north of Victoria Drive remains open.

Why Cedar Drive is closed
The City says crews are installing two new sedimentation ponds within the existing roadway on Cedar Drive. The work is part of the larger Cedar Drive Upgrade Project, which includes:
- Removal of pre-load
- Installation of new sanitary sewer main from the Pump Station to Gilleys Trail
- Installation of new water main and service connections
- Construction of two sedimentation ponds and culverts
- Construction of new road, driveways, multi-use pathway, and street lighting
- Installation of environmental plantings and restoration work
The Cedar Drive Upgrade Project supports development in the eastern section of the Partington Creek neighbourhood, including the future Burke Mountain Village site.
