Coquitlam city-wide garage sale returns Sept. 19 and 20

Coquitlam's fall City-Wide Garage Sale and Giveaway Event will run Saturday, Sept. 19, and Sunday, Sept. 20, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Residents can register a sale at their home for one or both days.

The City of Coquitlam notice says registration is open until 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16. Registered addresses are added to the City's interactive map and promoted through its website and social media channels.

When the event happens

The main event schedule is:

  • Saturday, Sept. 19: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Sunday, Sept. 20: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Participants can choose either day or take part on both. The City says more than 2,299 households have participated since the event launched in 2014.

Who can register a home sale

The event is open to these Coquitlam households:

  • Single-family and duplex homes: Residents can register their address.
  • Multi-family buildings: Residents need permission from the property owner, manager or strata.

Registration is available through the City's garage-sale page. Participants can identify the types of items they plan to sell or give away, including books, clothing, toys, electronics, home decor, furniture, tools and sports gear.

Indoor option at Dogwood

Apartment and condo residents without suitable sale space can consider the Dogwood Fall Swap and Sale. It runs at Dogwood's Centennial Pavilion on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with free entry for shoppers.

The notice lists these seller details:

  • Registration: Use Course ID 232811 through the City's registration site.
  • Deadline: Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 12 a.m.
  • Table price: $34.65 plus tax.

The City also provides signage templates, sale tips, donation information and guidance for leftover items on its garage-sale page. Residents planning a home sale should register before 4 p.m. on Sept. 16, while Dogwood sellers should use the separate course registration and deadline.
